Traditions in flux – librarians on the move’ – this is the motto of the Cycling for Libraries campaign. A group of international cycling librarians set off from Copenhagen on May 28 for the 100th German Librarians’ Day in Berlin. The 650 km route was completed in nine stages, five of which were in Germany. At each stop, there were lectures and programs on the subject of libraries – in the literal sense of a roadshow. So the tour was much more than just a bike ride – it was a rolling library congress – and you could be part of it: The number of participants was limited to 100. Registrations were possible until May 01, 2011.
If you didnt want to cycle the entire route, you could still have had various options for taking part in part of the overall event. The stages in Germany would have been ideal if you had taken advantage of the long Ascension weekend in the merry month of May and an extended a stay in Berlin before Librarian’s Day to participate in this unique campaign:
