Bikesy's Verdict

The 2026 Comfort SLX 800 is the Kathmandu to choose when you want commuting and loaded leisure rides to stay simple. Automatic Enviolo shifting and a Gates belt look after the transmission, the Bosch CX is rated to a maximum 90Nm, and the Classic and Easy Entry frames use an 800Wh PowerTube. Lights, mudguards and the Integrated Carrier 3.0 are already fitted. Classic is the high-top-tube frame, quoted at 28.2kg; Easy Entry is the low-step frame, quoted at 30.3kg, with sizes from 46cm. Both have an official UK RRP of £4,499. Each frame has its own geometry, because reach and stack differ at the same size label. The weight is the limitation that can change this: if you often lift the bike up stairs or into a car, that quoted mass may matter more than the easy gearing.

Pros

  • Automatic Enviolo shifting takes the gear changes out of commuting and loaded riding
  • A clean Gates belt, with lights, mudguards and a carrier fitted for everyday use
  • Bosch CX assistance to a maximum 90Nm and an 800Wh PowerTube on the documented frames
  • Classic and Easy Entry frames are both officially listed at £4,499
  • 100mm Fox 34 fork, a suspension seatpost and XT hydraulic discs for less-smooth routes

Cons

  • Quoted weight is 28.2kg for the Classic record and 30.3kg for Easy Entry, so lifting the bike is a genuine part of ownership
  • The 125kg rider, 25kg carrier and 160kg system limits apply together, and a full load can reach the system figure first

If your riding is the commute, a leisure loop and a luggage-carrying tour, the 2026 Comfort SLX 800 is set up to make that straightforward. Automatic hub gears and a clean belt take care of the transmission, and the bike is equipped for roads and less-smooth routes with luggage on board. You then choose a high top tube or a low step, which comes down to how you get on and how willing you are to lift the bike.

Gears that look after themselves

Classic and Easy Entry both use an automatic Enviolo hub and a Gates belt. On the Classic frame the hub is the Enviolo Trekking Automatiq, a stepless unit with a 380% ratio range, running a Gates CDX belt of 128 teeth. You leave the shifts to the hub, which suits stop-start traffic and a loaded bike. The ratio spread is wide, and there are no fixed steps to click through as the gradient or the load changes.

A clean, low-mess belt is a large part of living with this bike through rain, shopping and overnight stops. The Kathmandu Hybrid SLX is the one with XT Di2 derailleur gears, if that is the shifting you want. A newer Deluxe SLX listing is the one that advertises ABS. This Comfort SLX is the automatic, belt-drive bike, and those other names are not interchangeable with it.

The automatic step up from the Comfort Pro

Pick the Comfort SLX when you want the bike to change gear for you. It pairs the automatic Enviolo hub with a Bosch Kiox 500 display, an LED Remote and Shimano XT brakes. The 2026 Comfort Pro also uses a belt and an Enviolo hub, and you shift that one yourself with a twist shifter, alongside a Purion 200 display and MT200 brakes. It's the same broad idea of a belt-drive Kathmandu, with the SLX taking care of the gear changes and stepping up the display and the brakes.

Cube's official UK RRP is £4,499 for the Comfort SLX Classic and Easy Entry frames, and £3,499 for the Comfort Pro. Those are list prices. A current offer can close the gap, and it can also make the Pro the dearer bike on the day, so the RRPs show how Cube positioned the two rather than what you will pay.

High top tube or low step

The Classic frame is Aluminium Superlite with a high top tube, in 50, 54, 58, 62 and 64cm, quoted at 28.2kg. Easy Entry is the low-step Aluminium Superlite, in 46, 50, 54, 58 and 62cm, quoted at 30.3kg. Each figure is the quoted weight for that frame record, so use it for the shape rather than as a weight for every size. Both have an official UK RRP of £4,499. Easy Entry makes sense when you want to step through the frame, or when 46cm is the size you need. Classic makes sense when you want the high top tube, the 64cm size, or the lower quoted weight.

Keep each size with its frame. At 54cm the Classic reach is 410mm and the stack is 654mm, while the Easy Entry reach is 390mm and the stack is 685mm. The other overlapping sizes have their own reach and stack too, so the frame shape belongs in the fit decision as much as the centimetre label. Cube publishes that geometry without a rider-height or inseam band for either 2026 frame, so reach and stack are the comparison you have. A third official frame record for this generation carries an 800Wh battery and belt-driven automatic Enviolo hub gearing. Frame shape, official UK price, complete build and sizes for that record are not established, so a Classic or Easy Entry offer is covered by the specification for the frame it names.

Assistance, luggage and the kilos you lift

Both documented frames use a Bosch Performance Line CX motor, the BDU38, rated to a maximum 90Nm, with a PowerTube of 800Wh. Treat the 90Nm as the maximum torque rating and the 800Wh as battery capacity. Neither figure is a promised mileage, so they will not tell you how far a particular commute or tour will go.

On the Classic frame the PowerTube is removable, a Bosch 4A charger is specified, and Cube says you can charge the battery on the bike or take it off. That helps when the only socket is indoors.

Bags go on the Integrated Carrier 3.0 with its spring clamp, fitted to both frames. Cube describes the carrier as RiLink-adaptor-ready for compatible bags or baskets. That is an upgrade route: the adaptor is not supplied simply because the carrier can take one. Lights, mudguards and an adjustable stem are fitted on both frames, and the stem gives you some room to set the bar position once the size is chosen. The 2026 Comfort SLX has published limits of 125kg for the rider, 25kg for the carrier and 160kg for the whole system. They apply together. A heavy rider and a full rack can meet the system limit while each separate allowance still looks comfortable, so count the bike, the rider and the luggage as one load.

You'll notice the weight as soon as the bike has to be moved off the ride. Cube quotes 28.2kg for the Classic record and 30.3kg for Easy Entry, before any luggage. That mass includes a 100mm Fox 34 Float AWL fork and a suspension seatpost on both frames, plus Shimano XT hydraulic discs. It's a lot of bike to lift onto a rack, into a car or up a flight of stairs. For the commuting and loaded tours it is built for, that's the trade for assistance, suspension and a carrier already on board. If you carry the bike as often as you ride it, the quoted weight is the thing that can tip the decision.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Charge the Classic battery indoors: That frame's PowerTube is removable, with a Bosch 4A charger, and Cube says you can charge it on the bike or take it to a socket.
  • Room to add a bag: The Integrated Carrier 3.0 is RiLink-adaptor-ready, so a compatible bag or basket is an upgrade, with the adaptor not part of the fitted bike.

Geometry

Published geometry for the 2026 Comfort SLX 800. Classic and Easy Entry have separate tables. Cube publishes these measurements without a rider-height or inseam band, so they are frame figures, not a promise that a size will fit you. Where standover is shown, it is Cube's protrusion-height measurement at 80mm. The 64cm Classic leaves that entry blank.

Reviews

Ronald Kamp's independent test for Consumentenbond, of a 2026 Kathmandu Hybrid Comfort SLX 800, describes the riding position as comfortable to slightly forward-leaning. The frame variant in that test is unspecified, so the comment belongs to the bike as tested and should not be read as proof that every frame shape fits the same way.
