Bikesy's Verdict
The SLX suits a trail rider who wants Bosch help on a bike that stays light by CUBE's full-suspension e-MTB standards. The C:68X carbon frame, 140 mm at both ends and a published 17.5 kg (size M in CUBE's table) are the heart of it, with a Fox 36 Float SL fork, XT Di2 and four-piston XT brakes on the current build. The Performance SX is rated to a maximum 60 Nm and draws on a fixed 400 Wh battery. That pack can change the recommendation: you charge the bike where you keep it, and another 250 Wh means buying the PowerMore separately. The 110 kg rider limit, including clothing and kit, matters if you are near that figure. Within those limits, this is a strong bike to own for quick assisted trail rides.
Pros
- C:68X carbon frame with a published 17.5 kg weight for lighter assisted trail riding
- 140 mm Fox 36 Float SL fork and Fox Float Performance shock with a two-position lever
- Shimano XT Di2 electronic 1×12 shifting and a 10-51T cassette
- Four-piston Shimano XT brakes with 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors
- Bosch Performance SX assistance with a stated maximum of 60 Nm
Cons
- Fixed 400 Wh battery charges on the bike; the 250 Wh PowerMore is a separate purchase
- 110 kg rider limit includes clothing and kit
If you like fast trail riding and want a motor for the climbs, the AMS Hybrid ONE44 C:68X SLX is the lightweight bike in CUBE's premium C:68X ONE44 line. Carbon full suspension and a compact Bosch system are the idea: assisted trail pace for a rider who cares about the chassis, the fit and the kit. TM and SLT models are separate bikes in the current UK line. This is the SLX.
A light carbon chassis for trail pace
The frame is C:68X carbon, with CUBE's FSP 4-link layout and 140 mm of rear travel. CUBE lists the frame at 2,100 g and the complete bike at 17.5 kg. That bike weight is the size M figure in CUBE's weight-limit table, and it is the number that marks this SLX out for riders who want assistance in a lighter full-suspension package than some of CUBE's other e-MTBs.
The limits sit alongside that figure. Maximum rider weight is 110 kg, including clothing and anything you wear, and maximum system weight is 135 kg, defined as the maximum total mass. They are separate limits. Worn kit counts inside the 110 kg rider figure, while 135 kg is the ceiling for the whole system.
A headset with 0.6° of head-angle adjustment is fitted, along with a UDH hanger, so there is a small amount of front-end adjustment on top of the published geometry.
What 60 Nm and 400 Wh mean on a ride
The motor is a Bosch Performance SX, and the current bike is listed at a maximum of 60 Nm. That is the peak assistance CUBE states, not a constant output you can treat as always available. No distance or riding time is published for this build, so the battery capacity is what you plan with.
You get a fixed, integrated Bosch CompactTube 400 of 400 Wh, and a Bosch 4A charger with the bike. The pack stays in the down tube, with no frame hatch for lifting it out, so charging happens beside the bike. Longer days can use an optional Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender. That extra 250 Wh is a separate accessory, and the fitted battery remains 400 Wh.
This carbon frame is for trail riding. CUBE excludes ordinary luggage-carrier fitting on carbon-fibre bikes, and excludes trailer towing with full-carbon frames.
Suspension, shifting and brakes
The current SLX has a Fox 36 Float SL Performance GRIP fork with 140 mm of travel, and a Fox Float Performance shock with adjustable low-speed rebound and a two-position lever. Shifting is Shimano XT Di2, an electronic 1×12 with a 10-51T cassette. Brakes are four-piston Shimano XT, 203 mm at the front and 180 mm at the rear. A handlebar-operated dropper is fitted, and the stroke depends on the size.
That specification is a strong match if your riding is quick assisted trail work and you want a 140 mm Fox 36, wide-range electronic gears and four-piston brakes on the light carbon frame.
The current SLX and the earlier one
The current UK specification is XT Di2, a Fox 36 Float SL fork, an aluminium ACID MTB Hybrid Pro 32T crankset, and assistance listed to a maximum of 60 Nm. The earlier SLX 400X 29, from the range introduced in February 2024, used mechanical Shimano XT, a Fox 34 Performance GRIP fork and assistance listed up to 55 Nm. S, M, L and XL are sizes of the one current build. When an offer only says SLX 400X, the fork and the shifting show which specification you are looking at. An offer labelled 2027 that has XT Di2 and the Fox 36 Float SL is this same current specification.
Official UK RRP is £5,499, and the earlier specification has carried the same official list price. What you pay can differ from that RRP.
CUBE has said supply-chain issues can lead to component substitutions on a delivered bike, so the fork, shifting and crank fitted to the one you buy are the details that define it.
A crank-arm recall may affect a 2026 SLX sold before 8 May 2026 if it is fitted with ACID Carbon Hybrid crank arms. The crankset listed on the current specification is the aluminium ACID MTB Hybrid Pro. Where a bike might be affected, the frame number has to go through CUBE's recall process, with authorised dealer confirmation of the remedy. CUBE says an affected bike must not be ridden until it has been checked and repaired.
Choosing S, M, L or XL
CUBE publishes no height or inseam bands for the current SLX, so you choose from the geometry. Reach runs from 428 mm on the S to 500 mm on the XL, and stack rises with each size. Head angle, seat angle and chainstay are shared: 65.6°, 76° and 450 mm. Compare those reach and stack figures, then sit on the bike and confirm the saddle height works with the dropper's insertion limit.
The S is the short one on dropper travel, with a 100 mm stroke and a 230 mm seatpost insertion limit. Stroke steps up from there, and L and XL share 170 mm, so moving to XL does not buy you a longer dropper.
With the size settled on the current Fox 36 and XT Di2 SLX, you have a light carbon trail e-MTB for fast assisted rides, built for riders who want to keep the pace up.
Key Features & Benefits

- Optional PowerMore 250 Wh: Extra capacity you can add later, beyond the fitted 400 Wh battery
- 0.6° adjustable headset: A small head-angle change if you want to tune the front end
