Marco Faimali

Marco Faimali

Founder of Bikesy · Cycling industry veteran · Road safety campaigner

Marco Faimali is a UK cycling industry veteran with nearly forty years in the sport as a competitive rider, club builder and grassroots organiser. He co-founded the Beastway mountain bike race series, where he wrote one of the earliest race scoring programs in existence - built so every rider got a finishing position, not just the top ten - and gave it away free to any organiser who wanted it, to help grow grassroots racing.

At Addiscombe CC he has served as club captain, MTB secretary and publicity officer, and developed the beginner recruitment model that was the subject of a four-page feature in Cycling Plus. The thread through all of it is a single aim: getting more people on bikes.

A long-time road safety campaigner, Marco has supported London Cycling Campaign demonstrations and Stop Killing Cyclists actions over many years. That decades-long focus on rider safety now informs his work on the e-bike market, where certification and build quality have become safety issues in their own right.

Combining a software engineering background with decades of hands-on cycling knowledge, Marco founded Bikesy, the UK cycling price comparison site, tracking prices across 30 retailers - giving him a live view of the whole UK cycling market that few commentators can match. After a decade building the site behind the scenes, he now fronts its data and commentary.

Marco also offers cycling consultancy to film and television productions on period accuracy and authenticity - including advising one period film that bicycles would be anachronistic to its era, a recommendation the production took.

He is available for expert comment on e-bike safety and the e-bike market, bike prices and cycling market trends, cycling uptake and participation, and grassroots racing.

Cycling consultancy for film & TV

Marco advises productions on cycling accuracy and period authenticity - the machines, the kit, the riding style, and whether bicycles belong in the scene at all. On one period production his advice was that bicycles would be anachronistic to the era; the film cut them. Getting it right is sometimes knowing when to leave the bike out.
