Bikesy's Verdict

The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Pro suits experienced trail riders who want full-power assistance and an 840Wh battery, and who can live with a claimed 23.94 kg S4 weight. The 3.1 motor's 105Nm and 810W peak take the sting out of technical climbs, while mixed-wheel 160/150mm travel, adjustable geometry and overlapping S-Sizing let you tune how calm or lively it feels. Wireless X0, Maven Silver brakes, carbon wheels and the Factory GENIE shock give you the kit that matches the motor. It remains a substantial e-bike, and the launch-build long-term test found a harsher ride than some people will enjoy. For committed riders who will use that battery and kit, it makes bigger UK days feel realistic.

Pros

  • Specialized 3.1 motor with 810W peak and 105Nm, suited to slow technical climbing
  • 840Wh battery plus an optional 280 Wh extender for long rides
  • Adjustable geometry and overlapping S-Sizing to bias agility or high-speed stability
  • X0 AXS Transmission, Maven Silver brakes and Roval carbon wheels
  • MasterMind TCU, app control, Apple Find My and SWAT storage

Cons

  • Claimed S4 weight of 23.94 kg makes racks, stairs and unassisted riding hard work; the 600Wh battery option cuts mass for shorter days.
  • The launch-build long-term test reported harsh chassis and suspension feedback, so plush small-bump comfort is not a strength.
  • The motor holds full assistance close to empty, so the cutoff can arrive abruptly if you are not watching the display.

The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Pro is aimed at experienced trail riders who want full-power help on steep, technical climbs and enough travel to enjoy fast mixed-wheel descents, without stepping up to an S-Works. It sits just above the Turbo Levo 4 Expert, with a FACT 11m carbon chassis, the Specialized 3.1 motor and an 840Wh battery, plus a Fox 38 Performance Elite fork, Fox Float X Factory GENIE shock, wireless SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission and Roval carbon wheels.

It's the current UK model, sold as the 2026 Turbo Levo 4 Pro at an original UK RRP of £9,699.

The revised G4 Pro

The specification that defines this Pro now is the revised G4 kit: a Fox 38 Performance Elite with GRIP X2 damping, 160mm of travel and 2.4-inch Butcher GRID Gravity T9 tyres. A 2027 year sticker on a listing can still be this official 2026 bike, not a later generation.

Assistance comes from the Specialized 3.1 motor, rated at 810W peak power and 105Nm of torque. On a slow, rooted climb you can still pick a line instead of simply surviving the gradient.

The integrated 840Wh battery is sized for long trail-centre loops, and Specialized claims up to five hours' range. An optional 280 Wh range extender is there when you want extra time out, and a 600Wh internal battery is an option on the G4 platform when you would rather carry less mass on shorter rides.

In the box is a Specialized 4-amp charger. The faster Super Charger is not listed as standard equipment, so don't expect the promoted under-one-hour 0-80% charge from the unit supplied with the bike.

Frame, GENIE suspension and handling

The FACT 11m carbon frame runs 150mm of rear travel, with side-entry battery access and SWAT storage in the down tube, so a tube and multi-tool can live on the bike. A 29-inch front wheel and 160mm Fox 38 help the bike hold speed through chop; the 27.5-inch rear keeps the back end handy when you need to change line.

Specialized fits a Fox Float X Factory shock with its GENIE design to keep the rear tyre working on climbs and to control bigger hits on the way down. SRAM Maven Silver four-piston brakes are there for the same pace. Mountain Bike Rider's 1,000-mile test of the launch-build Pro still found harsher chassis and suspension feedback than expected, so this is a supportive, adjustable trail bike rather than a plush small-bump specialist.

Head angle, bottom-bracket height and chainstay length are all adjustable, so you can bias the bike towards agility, stability or clearance. The frame also accepts a fork up to 180mm, which suits a more gravity-focused set-up but changes the geometry and needs careful configuration.

S-Sizing overlaps on purpose. Around 173-180cm you can sit in S3 or S4, going shorter for a snappier ride or longer for high-speed calm. Reach runs from 435mm on the S2 to 505mm on the S5, with a 64.5-degree head angle and 77-degree seat angle across those sizes.

Living with the weight and the battery

An S4 is claimed at 23.94 kg, so roof racks, stairs and any unassisted pushing are honest parts of living with it. The 840Wh battery sits low in the frame via the side-entry design. On the bar, the 2.2-inch MasterMind TCU talks to the Specialized app for assistance tuning and system lock, and Apple Find My adds a tracking option if the bike disappears.

Watch the charge percentage rather than waiting for the motor to fade on its own. The G4 Turbo system keeps delivering full assistance close to empty, which is useful until the cutoff arrives without much warning. Replacement hangers are standard SRAM UDH parts, which is a practical plus after a rock strike on a carbon e-bike you actually ride hard.

Factory-fork bikes with the same name

The first Turbo Levo 4 Pro G4 build was listed at £10,299 and came with a Fox 38 Factory fork, 2.3-inch tyres and different handlebar rises, with the X0 AXS derailleur wired to the main battery. It's the same Levo 4 generation, so you're looking at a kit change rather than an older frame family.

Two Pro listings can disagree on kit, so the fork, tyre width and drivetrain power connection are the details that tell them apart. The £9,699 bike is the Performance Elite, 2.4-inch specification.

Buy the Pro when wireless X0 shifting, Maven brakes and carbon wheels are the details you will use every ride, and when a big battery plus established dealer support matter more than cutting the spend. For that rider, a hilly all-day loop becomes something you can finish still thinking about one more trail, instead of nursing the charge from the first climb.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 3.1 motor, 840Wh pack and 4-amp charger: Peak output of 810W and 105Nm helps you choose lines on slow climbs, while the big battery and optional 280 Wh extender support all-day UK loops. The Super Charger is not included as standard.
  • Fox Float X Factory GENIE shock: GENIE is designed to hold climbing traction and resist harsh bottom-outs, working with 150mm of rear travel and Maven four-piston braking on the descents.
  • X0 AXS, Maven Silver and Traverse HD carbon wheels: Wireless X0 shifting, four-piston Maven Silver discs and Roval carbon rims with DT Swiss 350 hubs are the trail kit that separates this Pro from cheaper Levo builds.
  • MasterMind TCU, Apple Find My and SWAT: The 2.2-inch display and Specialized app handle assistance tuning and system lock, Find My adds tracking, and down-tube SWAT carries a tube and multi-tool without a pack.
  • Geometry, fork and battery tuning: You can adjust head angle, bottom-bracket height and chainstay length, fit a fork up to 180mm later, or swap the stock 840Wh pack for a 600Wh internal battery when you want a less hefty ride.

Alternatives to Consider

The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Expert uses the same FACT 11m carbon chassis, Specialized 3.1 motor, 840Wh battery and 160/150mm mixed-wheel travel. It steps down to GX AXS, alloy wheels and lower-tier suspension, and it is claimed at 24.41 kg in S4 against the Pro's 23.94 kg. The Pro's extra kit is the X0 Transmission and carbon wheels, not a different motor or battery.

The Amflow PL Carbon (800Wh) is a carbon 160/150mm rival with an 850W, 105Nm DJI system and an 800Wh battery, and it is listed at a lower weight. Both bikes share 105Nm of torque and the same travel numbers. The Amflow's peak power is higher; the Levo answers with 840Wh capacity, a Fox 38, carbon wheels, extensive geometry adjustment and established after-sales support.

Reviews

In a 1,000-mile Mountain Bike Rider test, Danny rode the Turbo Levo 4 Pro launch build - the earlier G4 specification with the Fox 38 Factory fork rather than the current Performance Elite bike. He scored it 7/10, praising the range of adjustment, consistent battery delivery and the quality of Specialized support.

The same test was less kind about ride feel. After those miles he criticised harsh feedback through the chassis and suspension, found the tyres unusually awkward to fit to the Roval carbon rims, and judged value weakly. Tyre fitting was observed on that launch-build wheel and tyre combination, so it should not be assumed for every later batch. The motor's habit of holding full assistance close to empty also featured, which matches the need to watch the charge display on the G4 Turbo system.
