Bikesy's Verdict
The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Comp Carbon is the carbon Levo 4 for riders who want full-power trail assistance without stepping up to the Expert. The 3.1 motor and 840 Wh battery are built for long days and steep climbs, and the mixed wheels plus 150 mm of carbon-framed travel are there for the descents that follow. SRAM AXS shifting and Maven brakes with 220 mm rotors suit a bike of this mass. It is a substantial thing to lift, at a claimed 24.54 kg in S4, and it arrives on tubes rather than a finished tubeless setup. Between the published S2 and S6 height bands, for someone who actually wants a long-travel trail eMTB, it is a bike worth getting excited about.
Pros
- Strong climbing support from the 3.1 motor's 105 Nm and 810 W peak.
- 840 Wh battery fitted as standard, with a claimed ride time of up to 5 hours.
- 150 mm carbon rear end, 160 mm FOX 36 Rhythm fork and FLOAT X GENIE shock.
- Eagle AXS shifting and Maven Bronze brakes with 220 mm rotors front and rear.
- Head angle, bottom-bracket height and chainstay length can all be adjusted.
Cons
- Claimed weight is 24.54 kg in S4, so car loading and upstairs storage take planning. A towbar rack or ground-level spot deals with most of it.
- Tubes are fitted even though the rims and tyres are tubeless-ready, so valves and sealant are extra if you want that setup.
- Alloy wheels are the tough, simple choice, which means less lively acceleration than a lighter wheelset.
The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Comp Carbon is for riders who want a steep climb to stay rideable and the descent to feel like a trail bike. Full-power assistance, a FACT 11m carbon frame with 150 mm of rear travel, and a 160 mm fork are aimed at technical trail centres, loose natural climbs, and rocky, rooty descents. It suits progressing intermediates through to experienced riders. The mass, and the speed the motor can add, make it a poor match for a first nervous day off-road.
Specialized's own name for it is Turbo Levo 4 Comp. Carbon is missing from that title, even though the frame is FACT 11m carbon, which is why the fuller name is the useful one when offers are being compared. It is the current UK model, the lowest-priced carbon build in the fourth-generation Levo range, above the alloy models and below the Expert. The official UK RRP is £6,399.
Telling this build from a £6,799 listing
Retailers do not all show the same specification. An earlier build of this same G4 generation carried a £6,799 RRP, and that figure still appears on some orange or champagne bikes. A 2026 tag will not separate them, because that year label is used more widely than the spec change. We would match the tyres, rotors and weight claim before treating two offers as the same bike. Butcher GRID Gravity Radial tyres, 220 mm rotors at both ends, and a claimed S4 weight of 24.54 kg (54 lb, 1.6 oz) are the markers for this build.
Comp Alloy, EVO, R and SL models are different bikes. A similar Levo name does not mean the same frame or the same kit.
Carbon, mixed wheels and the ride they set up
You get 150 mm of rear travel in that carbon frame, a side-entry battery and SWAT storage in the downtube. The hatch is for the small kit you otherwise have to dig through a pack to find. The motor is the Specialized 3.1, at 810 W peak and 105 Nm, with an 840 Wh Turbo X2 battery. Specialized claims up to 5 hours. A 2.2-inch MasterMind TCU shows the ride data, the Specialized app handles the tuning, and Apple Find My is there if the bike goes missing.
On a steep, loose climb, 105 Nm is the assistance that keeps the pitch rideable while you pick a line. Drop a gear when you want the bike to spin rather than another notch of assist.
Wheels are a mixed, or mullet, layout: 29 x 2.4 inches at the front and 27.5 x 2.4 inches at the rear. The front wheel has to roll over roots and rocks. The smaller rear wheel is what helps a heavy bike change line. There is no stock full-29 option here. Riders chasing matching big wheels and a lighter cross-country build are looking at a different sort of e-bike.
The fork is a FOX FLOAT 36 Rhythm with a GRIP damper and 160 mm of travel. Out back, a FOX FLOAT X GENIE Performance shock, 210 x 55 mm, controls the 150 mm rear end. On a bike with this much mass, set sag and rebound before the first fast descent rather than after a harsh one. The frame specification allows a fork of up to 180 mm. That is a more descending-focused setup and it changes the geometry, so the warranty position with Specialized is worth confirming before you fit one.
Head angle, bottom-bracket height and chainstay length can all be adjusted. You can bias the bike toward pedal clearance, a quicker feel, or more stability, then leave it alone. Write the setting down. Published geometry is the low setting, and other positions will not match those figures.
The Comp kit you will notice
Shifting is SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS, 12-speed, with a 10-52t cassette. In winter mud you get a shift without nursing a cable, and the range covers a slow winch and a fast fireroad. There is a derailleur battery to keep charged. Cranks are 155 mm from S2 to S6, which helps the pedals clear rocks on a low bike.
Brakes are SRAM Maven Bronze, four-piston, with 220 mm rotors front and rear. The leverage is obvious the first time you brake late on a long descent. A smooth hand gets more from them than a sudden grab, and that habit arrives quickly.
Rims are 30 mm internal hookless alloy and tubeless-ready. Tyres are Butcher GRID Gravity Radial T9 TLR, 29 x 2.4 at the front and 27.5 x 2.4 at the rear. The casing is the grippy, tough choice rather than a light race tyre. Tubes are what the bike arrives with. Valves and sealant are not supplied, so tubeless is a conversion, not a factory finish. On rocky, rooty trails it is the early job worth doing, for sealing punctures and for running a little less pressure.
The dropper is an X-Fusion Manic, 34.9 mm diameter, with travel that increases by size. Bars change too: the S2 is narrower and lower-rise than S3 to S6. The charger in the specification is a Specialized 4 amp unit. A faster charger is a separate purchase, not something this build includes.
Picking a size without an old label
Specialized calls the fit system S-Sizing. This carbon Comp runs from S2 to S6, for published heights of 157 cm to 203 cm, and the bands overlap on purpose. Where two sizes both include your height, the shorter one is the more manoeuvrable bike and the longer one is the more stable bike. Arms, legs and how much reach you like matter as much as height alone. S5 and S6 are the long, calm end of the range, giving up some tight-trail agility for stability.
Below 157 cm there is no listed size on this carbon Comp. Selected alloy Levo builds include an S1 if an S2 would be too much bike. The weight claim is tied to S4, and the real weight still changes with size, colour and small spec differences.
Getting it home, charged and ready
That S4 weight shows up when you load a car, climb stairs or look at a roof rack. Plan the lift rather than hoping it feels lighter than the claim. Ground-level storage, or a towbar carrier rated for a full-power eMTB, keeps the regular load straightforward.
The big pack is why a second lap, or a long ride with a lot of climbing, stays realistic. It is also part of why the bike weighs what it does. The G4 platform was introduced with an optional 600 Wh main battery and a 280 Wh range extender. Neither is fitted. A smaller pack would cut carried mass, and the extender would add capacity, but neither should be treated as included, and UK availability needs confirming before you plan around one.
Suspension setup is the other job before a technical ride. A heavy, powerful eMTB feels harsh or vague if the pressures are a guess. Start with a careful sag and rebound baseline. A professional setup is there if you would rather not do the sums yourself. The GENIE does not need replacing to do its job.
The earlier G4 build
The earlier Comp Carbon remains this generation, with the same carbon platform and core drivetrain. Its claimed S4 weight was 24.41 kg. Tyres were non-Radial Butchers, the wheels used different drilling, and the brake-rotor specification was less complete. Orange or champagne bikes at the higher RRP are that build, so the Levo 4 Comp name on its own is not a match.
In the right size, with the shock set and the offer matched to the Radial tyres and 220 mm rotors, the Turbo Levo 4 Comp Carbon does the job it is meant for. Steep climbs stay on the bike, and rough descents have the travel, the brakes and a 29-inch front wheel. Loading the car is where the weight shows up. On the climb, the motor is what you came for.
Key Features & Benefits
- SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS: Electronic 12-speed shifting and a 10-52t cassette, so winter shifts do not depend on a cable. The derailleur has its own battery to charge.
- Adjustable geometry: Head angle, bottom-bracket height and chainstay length can be biased toward clearance, a quicker feel or more stability. Note the position, or the next ride will not tell you what changed.
- Butcher GRID Gravity Radial tyres: T9 TLR casings in 29 x 2.4 and 27.5 x 2.4, chosen for grip and a tough build. They can run tubeless, though the bike arrives with tubes.
- MasterMind TCU and SWAT: A 2.2-inch display, app tuning and Apple Find My, plus downtube space for small ride kit. Handy every time you head out, and tied to Specialized's own parts.

Alternatives to Consider
The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Comp Alloy shares the 105 Nm, 810 W motor, the 840 Wh battery and a similar FOX 36 and GENIE suspension package. It is the lower-priced route onto this platform. What changes is the frame, M5 alloy rather than FACT 11m carbon, and the gears, a mechanical SRAM Eagle 90 rather than SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS. The carbon Comp is the one when that frame and the electronic shifting are the point. The alloy Comp makes sense when they are not.
Pinkbike identified the Amflow PL Carbon as a key rival. It put the Amflow at about 44 lb, against this Comp's claimed 54 lb, 1.6 oz in S4, so the weight gap is wide and it favours the Amflow. Peak power is 850 W there and 810 W here. Both are rated at 105 Nm, so torque is not the split. Battery capacity leans the other way: 800 Wh on the Amflow, 840 Wh fitted to the Levo.
Reviews
Max Ritter reviewed a 2026 Turbo Levo 4 Comp Carbon for POWDER. That was the earlier G4 build, so his tyre and rotor experience should not be read straight across to the Radial tyres and 220 mm rotors on this build. What does carry is the mixed-wheel comment: he found that layout more manoeuvrable, and more fun, on descents, and he saw the heavier stock parts as a fair swap of low weight for durability and simplicity.
Robin Weaver's BikeRadar review used an S-Works Turbo Levo 4, which shares this generation's platform rather than this Comp's parts list. He described balanced suspension, calm descending, geometry adjustment that made a real difference, and assistance that stayed smooth across a wide cadence range. Motor-output figures from the S-Works test do not belong to the Comp.
