Bikesy's Verdict
The Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo SL 2 LTD suits experienced trail and enduro riders who will actually use automated coil suspension and flagship wireless kit. At 18.56 kg in S4 it stays closer to a trail bike when you jump, turn or ride with the motor quiet, while the SL 1.2 unit takes the sting out of steep climbs without full-power bulk. A 320Wh battery and 50Nm of torque cap long, highly assisted days unless you add the Range Extender, and anyone who doesn't need Live Valve Neo or XX Transmission is overbuying. For a fit rider who still likes to pedal and wants the bike to manage the rear shock, it's a costly but complete way to ride more and wrestle the bike less.
Pros
- Claimed 18.56 kg in S4, so unpowered handling stays closer to a trail bike
- FOX DHX Live Valve Neo coil shock that adjusts itself as you ride
- SRAM XX Eagle Transmission, Maven Ultimate brakes and DT Swiss 240 hubs
- Adjustable head angle and bottom-bracket height, with a 29-inch rear-wheel option
- SL 1.2 motor that helps on climbs without erasing trail-bike feel
Cons
- 320Wh battery limits long rides with high assistance unless you add the optional Range Extender
- Flagship wireless FOX and SRAM parts are costly to replace
- Stock coil spring is matched to frame size and may not suit every rider's mass
The Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo SL 2 LTD is for experienced trail and enduro riders who want a motor without dragging a full-power e-MTB around. You still put real effort into the climbs. In return you get a FACT 11m carbon bike with 160mm of fork travel and 150mm at the rear, mixed wheels and a claimed 18.56 kg in size S4 - light enough to hop, place and ride unpowered. The limited kit is the other draw: a FOX DHX Live Valve Neo coil shock, SRAM XX Eagle Transmission, Maven Ultimate brakes and a wireless FOX Transfer Neo dropper.
That mix suits fit riders who want extra help on weekend trail days and enduro-style descents, without losing the ability to hop the bike or ride stretches with the motor quiet. Maximum torque, all-day battery capacity or a cheaper path into the same chassis sit outside what this build is for.
The 2025 Live Valve Neo LTD
Specialized sold this complete bike as the 2025 S-Works Turbo Levo SL 2 LTD - FOX DHX Live Valve Neo, with an original UK RRP of £13,750. It's the latest official UK version, and Specialized no longer lists it in the current catalogue.
Retailer pages that say 2026 are using a stock-year label, not announcing a new generation. This FOX DHX Live Valve Neo bike is also separate from the standard S-Works Levo SL 2 and from earlier S-Works Turbo Levo SL LTD models.
Carbon chassis, SL 1.2 motor and kit
The frame is FACT 11m carbon with an alloy shock extension and 150mm of rear travel. Head angle and bottom-bracket height both adjust, giving six geometry setups so you can bias stability or a lower, snappier stance. It ships as a mixed-wheel e-MTB, 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear, which keeps the back end short and easy to move. You can fit a compatible 29-inch rear wheel after changing the pivot-link chip position. Rollover and traction improve; some of the stock bike's compact, responsive rear-end feel goes away.
Assistance comes from the Specialized SL 1.2 Custom RX Trail Tuned motor, with 50Nm of torque and 320W of peak power, fed by an integrated 320Wh battery. Climbs get easier without the bike turning into a tow truck. You still contribute. Modes, MicroTune and ANT+/Bluetooth pairing run through the MasterMind TCU, a handlebar remote and the Specialized App.
The FOX DHX Factory Live Valve Neo coil is why this S-Works costs more than a normal Levo SL 2. The shock adds pedalling support as you climb, then stays open when you point downhill, which cuts the usual compromise between a firm climb setting and an active descent. Springs follow frame size - 400lb on S2, then 450, 500, 550 and 600lb through to S6 - and may need a swap if your mass sits well outside the usual range for that size.
Frames run S2 to S6. Reach stretches from 425mm to 525mm, while standover only moves from 763mm to 778mm, so sizing is more about room to move than a big step in crotch clearance. S2 uses a 20mm-rise bar, 125mm of FOX Transfer Neo dropper travel and a 155mm saddle. From S3 up the bar rise is 40mm and the saddle is 143mm, with dropper travel stepping through 150mm, 175mm and then 200mm on S5 and S6.
SRAM's XX Eagle Transmission, Maven Ultimate brakes with 200mm rotors, Traverse HD carbon wheels on DT Swiss 240 hubs and the wireless FOX dropper are the parts you notice when you shift under load, brake late or want the saddle out of the way without a cable. They're also dearer to replace than mid-range kit, which is the ownership side of buying this limited build.
Range, coil springs and running the bike
The 320Wh battery is how the weight stays down, and it's the limit you will feel first. Repeated assisted laps on steep ground, or a long day with the motor wound up, empty it sooner than a full-power e-MTB. An optional 160Wh Levo SL Range Extender, sold separately, is claimed to add 50 percent capacity. It takes a bottle-cage position and adds mass, so it's a trade for longer rides rather than extra range for free.
Size-based coil springs are a starting point, not a guarantee that S4's 500lb rate will suit every S4 rider. Wireless suspension, the FOX Transfer Neo dropper and AXS shifting also mean extra batteries to charge, and replacements cost more if a unit fails. A SWAT CC tool in the steerer, with a chain tool and link, at least puts the trail-side basics on the bike.
For the right rider this is a light, highly adjustable trail e-MTB with automated coil suspension and a finishing kit that matches aggressive riding. You buy it because you want that Live Valve Neo shock and the XX Transmission package on a bike you can still hop and place. The SL 1.2 motor will back you up on the climbs without turning every outing into a battery-management exercise, unless high assistance all day is the plan, in which case the Range Extender earns its keep.
Key Features & Benefits
- FOX DHX Factory Live Valve Neo: The rear shock looks after pedalling support and descending suppleness without a lever, which is the main reason this limited build exists.
- Low mass with light-assist power: At 18.56 kg in S4, with 50Nm of SL 1.2 assistance, you can still muscle the bike through tight corners and unpowered sections rather than steering a heavy shuttle bike.
- Adjustable mixed-wheel chassis: Stock 29/27.5 wheels keep the rear end compact; a pivot-link chip lets you run 29 inches behind if you want more rollover, and six geometry setups cover how stable you want the bike.
- XX Transmission and Maven Ultimate: Electronic shifting and powerful braking stay precise when you are tired and riding hard, though replacement parts cost more than mid-range kit.

Alternatives to Consider
The Specialized Turbo Levo SL 2 Pro uses the same SL 1.2 motor, 50Nm, 320W peak power and 320Wh battery, and it is slightly lighter at 18.15 kg in S4. In place of the LTD's Live Valve Neo coil and top-end parts it runs a FOX GENIE air shock, SRAM X0 Transmission, Maven Silver brakes and DT Swiss 350 hubs. The Pro is the same light-assist chassis without automated coil control or XX-level kit.
The Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo 4 is the full-power alternative: 111Nm, 850W and an 840Wh battery, at 23.68 kg in S4. That is 5.12 kg heavier than the LTD, with substantially more assistance and battery capacity. It suits riders who want to be towed up long, steep climbs and stay out for longer; the LTD stays the better match when handling and unpowered manners matter more than maximum output.
Reviews
Julian Schwede of ENDURO Mountainbike Magazine tested an S-Works Turbo Levo SL sharing this generation's chassis and e-system. He found it balanced agility with composure, felt confidence-inspiring immediately and said the motor integrated well.
Joshua Hutchens at OutdoorGearLab rode a Turbo Levo SL Comp from the same generation and described a lightweight trail-bike feel with well-integrated assistance. Limited battery capacity and high pricing were the drawbacks he flagged, both of which still sit on this LTD build.
