Carrera Vulcan Mountain Bike
Wheel Size: 27.5
Suspension: Front 120mm
Brakes: Hydraulic Disc
Gears: 18 speed

A heavy robust frame makes the Carrera Vulcan popular with teenagers just starting out on their bike journey. The longer 120mm forks look good at a distance, but offer too much bobbing for anyone trying to use it for any sort of distance. If you want a bike to commute or for weekend leisure rides you're probably better off with a Rockrider ST120 or if you want a well specced more responsive bike for real off-road fun get the ST540

The shimano Altus groupset is a great option for cyclists who are looking for a quality, affordable serious groupset. With it's 2x9 gearing set up, this groupset features a wide spread of gear ratios to help get you up the steepest climbs with ease that offer great performance and value. The shifters are precise and the hydraulic brakes are powerful, if the frame was lighter and more responsive you'd want to take it off road more, but as it is, it's a bit of a mismatched combination.
The Suntour forks give the front end of the bike 120mm of coil (not air) sprung travel, with the option to lockout for when the bobbing becomes too much. If you're using the bike for commuting the puncture-resistant tyres are handy protection for any accidental glass but the extra tyre weight will slow you down a bit.
