What is the latest Yeti 160E version?
The latest 160E revision pairs Shimano's EP801 drive unit with 85 Nm of torque, a 630 Wh internal battery, EM800 display and E6002 charger. It is proper full-power assistance for steep, awkward climbs and repeat laps. The battery capacity is fixed, though: the EP801 frame does not support a larger factory battery, so riders chasing the longest possible assisted days may be better served by a newer large-battery platform.
Earlier Shimano EP8 builds remain first-generation 160Es, not a different frame generation. Their 630 Wh battery has a different model designation and the original T1 and C1 specifications use different components, so keep those bikes separate from the later T3 and C2 when weighing up an offer. Alternatives to the Yeti 160E
The Specialized Turbo Levo 4 Comp is a current full-power carbon alternative with a 105 Nm motor and substantially larger 840 Wh battery, making it the stronger choice for riders who put maximum assisted distance first. The Yeti has more suspension travel at 170 mm front and nominal 160 mm rear, against the Specialized's 160 mm fork and 150 mm rear travel. It is a different emphasis.
The Santa Cruz Vala uses a Bosch motor, 600 Wh battery, 150 mm rear travel and a mixed-wheel layout.
