Photochromic Cycling Glasses

Photochromic Cycling Glasses

Photochromic cycling glasses can be a good option for cyclists who want to have sunglasses that adapt to changing light conditions. These special types of cycling glasses darken when they are exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, allowing them to function as sunglasses when outdoors, but they become clear again when indoors or in low-light conditions.

The lenses of photochromic glasses contain molecules that are activated by UV light which, when exposed to UV light,  undergo a chemical reaction that causes them to absorb some of the light, making the lenses appear darker. When the UV light is removed, the molecules revert back to their original state, allowing the lenses to become clear again. This process is reversible and can happen many times, allowing the glasses to adapt to changing light conditions.
