UTO OG200

UTO OG200

UTO's non-folding two-seat electric cargo bike pairs a 720Wh removable battery and 200 kg payload with comfort-focused suspension and a £2,499 RRP.

  • Two-person saddle and folding footrests: Carry a passenger without converting the bike or adding a full longtail deck
  • 200 kg payload: Practical capacity for two adults, a child or shopping within the published limits
  • 720Wh removable battery: Useful range for a heavy passenger bike and easy indoor charging
  • Bafang H550 rear-hub motor: 60 Nm and start assist help you move away smoothly at junctions when loaded
  • Four-piston hydraulic brakes: 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors provide load-appropriate stopping power
  • Front and rear suspension: Wide 4.0-inch tyres and twin rear shocks soften cobbles and broken tarmac

Bikesy's Verdict

The UTO OG200 earns its place as a genuinely different kind of electric cargo bike. It is not a folder and not a conventional longtail; it is a low-step two-seater with a 720Wh removable battery, a 200 kg payload and comfort-focused suspension that should make short urban journeys feel easy and sociable. Couples, parents willing to add the right rack and child seat, and anyone replacing local car trips will find a lot to like at the £2,499 RRP. The fixed saddle and 34 kg weight are the main practical constraints, so secure ground-level storage and the correct saddle choice matter more than usual. If those fit your life, the OG200 is a confident, distinctive way to carry two people on one bike.

Pros

  • Purpose-built two-person layout with a long saddle and folding passenger footrests
  • Large 720Wh removable battery at a £2,499 RRP
  • 200 kg payload and 120 kg maximum rider weight
  • Four-piston hydraulic brakes with 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors
  • Comfort-oriented wide tyres, front suspension and twin rear shocks

Cons

  • 34 kg weight makes stairs, vehicle loading and frequent lifting difficult
  • Fixed saddle limits fit adjustment; taller riders need the optional high saddle
  • Key cargo and child-carrying accessories cost extra, and the rear rack cannot combine with the separate passenger handle

The UTO OG200 is a compact electric cargo bike built around a simple idea: two people, one bike, no folding involved. It pairs a low-step aluminium frame with a long bench saddle, 20-inch wheels and a 720Wh battery, and it is aimed at couples, parents and anyone replacing short car trips. The £2,499 RRP sits above UTO's folding commuters but below the brand's premium electric folders, and the OG200 earns its place by doing something those bikes do not: carrying a passenger as standard.

UTO OG200 prices and retailer offers

UTO lists the current UK model at £2,499. Live retailer prices vary, and Bikesy's comparison tables group offers for the current 720Wh build so you can see the best available deal. The three colour options are cosmetic rather than separate technical builds. Some shops label the bike as a 2027 model, but that is a retailer year label rather than an official UTO model year, so treat it as the current UK model.

Before comparing prices, check what is included. The front pizza rack and MIK HD rear rack are optional accessories, not confirmed standard equipment. The front rack is rated to 10 kg and the rear rack to 27 kg. If you plan to carry a child, you will need the optional MIK HD rear rack and a compatible child seat, and the child-seat maker's limits apply. The rear rack includes passenger handles, but it cannot be fitted at the same time as the separate passenger handle because they share mounting points. A skirt guard is also worth budgeting for if you regularly carry a passenger, because it helps keep clothing and feet away from the rear wheel. Price the accessories you actually need into the purchase, because a family setup costs more than the headline bike price.

What is the latest UTO OG200?

The current UK model is the first OG200 generation, introduced in 2026, so the specification here describes the bike as it stands today. It is not a folding bike, despite UTO's folding range and the compact 20-inch wheels. The frame is fixed, and the long saddle is designed to stay put.

One frame format covers all riders. The standard saddle is recommended for riders from 1.55 m to 1.75 m, while the optional high saddle is intended for 1.75 m to 1.90 m. There is no conventional saddle-height adjustment, so the choice between those two saddles matters more than it would on a normal bike. If you are near either boundary, try the correct saddle before buying, because this is one of the few bikes where a quick sit on the right version is genuinely part of the sizing decision.

Frame, passenger setup and likely ride character

The frame is low-step aluminium with smooth welds, a long two-person scooter-style saddle and folding rear passenger footrests. The design is meant to make mounting, stopping and loading a passenger less intimidating than on a tall cargo bike, and a centre stand helps with that. The bike weighs 34 kg, so it is stable when loaded, but you will feel that mass when wheeling it through a doorway or parking on a slope.

Two adults can ride together within the published limits. UTO rates the payload at 200 kg for rider, passengers and cargo, with a maximum rider weight of 120 kg. That is a payload figure rather than a gross system weight, so it is not directly comparable with some competitors' system-weight numbers. In practice, it means a typical couple plus shopping, or a child with the right accessories, sits comfortably inside the limits.

The ride is comfort-led rather than sporty. Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres stated at 4.0 inches wide, a suspension fork and two rear shock absorbers are there to soften potholes, cobbles, tram tracks and patched tarmac for both rider and passenger. UTO does not publish suspension travel figures, so treat the suspension as comfort-oriented rather than tuneable. A short launch ride in Paris found the centre stand easy to operate, which matters when you are loading a passenger on a 34 kg bike.

The Bafang H550 rear-hub motor produces 250 W nominal and 60 Nm, with start assist up to 6 km/h and assistance limited to 25 km/h. That should make moderate urban slopes and loaded starts easier, but do not expect effortless steep climbing at maximum payload. The cadence sensor gives a more switched-on assistance feel than a refined torque-sensor mid-drive. The Shimano Tourney 7-speed drivetrain is functional but basic, so keep the chain clean and adjusted and it will do the job.

The removable 720Wh battery uses LG cells and is rated at 48 V and 15 Ah. UTO claims up to 80 km of range, but that is a best-case planning figure. Two-up riding, hills, headwinds, cold weather and low tyre pressure will all reduce distance per charge. A full charge takes a stated 5 hours, and because the battery lifts out, indoor charging is practical for flats, workplaces and winter battery care.

Braking is one of the build's stronger points. Tektro HD-E3940 four-piston hydraulic calipers work with a 203 mm front rotor and 180 mm rear rotor, which is appropriate for a 34 kg bike carrying passengers. Take extra stopping distance when loaded, but the equipment is not the limiting factor.

UK ownership, storage and maintenance

Storage is the first ownership question. At 34 kg, this is not a bike most people will want to carry upstairs or lift regularly. Secure ground-level storage is the realistic answer, whether that is a garage, shed, ground-floor hallway or locked courtyard. If you plan to transport it by car, check that the rack is specifically rated for a 34 kg bike with 20-inch wheels before loading.

Day-to-day maintenance is straightforward but worth taking seriously on a passenger bike. Check tyre condition, brakes, lights and major fasteners before riding. UTO recommends cleaning and lubricating the chain every 150 km or after washing. Wash with low pressure and the battery removed, and avoid pressure washers. The removable battery also makes winter storage easier if you bring it indoors.

Rear-wheel punctures, hydraulic brake work and electrical diagnostics are easier with a cargo or e-bike-capable workshop. The wide tyres help on broken urban surfaces, but keeping them at the right pressure still matters for steering, range and tyre wear. UTO advertises a 5-year frame warranty on the current UK product page, but that does not automatically extend to electrical parts unless separate terms apply.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Long two-person saddle and folding passenger footrests: Makes spontaneous two-person journeys possible without converting a conventional bike every time. The fixed saddle offers less fit adjustment than a normal seatpost.
  • 200 kg maximum payload: Provides meaningful capacity for two adults, children or cargo within the published rider and accessory limits. The rating is payload rather than gross system weight.
  • 720Wh removable battery: Offers useful capacity for a heavy passenger bike and can be removed for indoor charging or winter storage. The up-to-80 km figure will reduce with heavy loads, hills and cold weather.
  • Bafang H550 rear-hub motor with start assist: Provides 60 Nm and assistance up to 6 km/h when moving away, which is particularly helpful at junctions or when loaded. The cadence sensor feels more switched-on than a torque-sensor mid-drive.
  • Optional MIK and MIK HD cargo fittings: Allows the bike to shift between passenger, child-carrying and shopping duties. The racks are optional and the rear rack cannot be combined with the separate passenger handle.

Alternatives to Consider

Estarli L20 2.0 E-cargo Longtail is the most relevant step-up if you want a more natural loaded ride. Its £2,995 base build costs £496 more than the UTO and uses a 600Wh battery, a 110 Nm mid-drive motor, an Enviolo hub and a Gates belt. The UTO counters with the lower £2,499 RRP, a larger 720Wh standard battery and a ready-made two-person bench rather than a conventional longtail deck. Note that the load figures use different definitions: Estarli states a 250 kg system limit including the bike, while UTO states a 200 kg payload excluding the bike.

Tern GSD Gen 3 is the conventional family-cargo option for buyers who want a 100 kg rear rack, Bosch Cargo Line assistance and a deep longtail accessory and support ecosystem. Its 210 kg figure is a gross vehicle limit, so it cannot be compared directly with the UTO's 200 kg payload. Choose the GSD if you want a system-focused two-passenger cargo bike with proven accessory depth; choose the UTO if you prefer a simpler, lower-complexity scooter-style two-seater.

Reviews

Matthieu Lauraux at Frandroid rode the current OG200 launch build on a short route around Paris. He found it reassuringly comfortable over roadworks and kerb edges and usefully agile despite the wide tyres. The cadence-sensor motor felt strong but relatively audible and on/off in delivery. He also noted that the display could be hard to read at times and that the Shimano Tourney shifts felt soft. Loaded climbing and real-world range were not part of that first ride, so treat those observations as early impressions rather than long-term findings.
