MiRiDER 16

The MiRiDER 16 is a compact folding e-bike for leisure rides, short commutes and city exploration when you also need it to live in a car boot, motorhome, caravan or train space. If you're between 152 and 195 cm and you care more about compact storage, a removable battery and simple controls than about a super-light carry or extra gears, this is MiRiDER's standard 16-inch single-speed bike.

You get a one-size magnesium-alloy frame and fork, 16-inch wheels, a single-speed chain, a rear spring damper and a lockable 252 Wh battery. Equipped weight is a claimed 17.3 kg, with a 120 kg maximum recommended rider weight. The original UK RRP was £1,595, sitting below MiRiDER's geared 16-inch bikes.

Folding, carrying and everyday kit

Magnets, an adjustable strap and a stabiliser wheel keep the folded bike together and able to stand, and the pedals fold too. That 16-inch package is the point of the bike for mixed travel. The catch is the lift: 17.3 kg is fine for a boot or a level platform, but it is a proper carry on stairs or through a busy station. Official pages also disagree on the precise folded dimensions, so do not treat any one set of centimetres as settled.

Mudguards, a front LED light, rear reflector, kickstand and the UK charger are included. There's no luggage rack fitted; MiRiDER's own rack and panniers are the official route if you want to carry bags. An extra official battery lets you charge one indoors or take a spare - that is not the same as doubling range. Register the bike within 30 days of delivery for two years' cover on the frame, motor, battery and specified electronics; without registration you get one year.

Assistance, battery and range

The geared brushless rear-hub motor is 250 W nominal and 40 Nm, with assistance limited to 25 km/h or 15.5 mph, so it sits inside normal UK e-bike rules. Five levels are available through a sine-wave torque simulation controller, not a physical torque sensor. A thumb control can nudge you along unassisted up to about 4 mph and add a boost once you're pedalling, which is there to help with starts.

The pack uses Samsung 18650 cells at 36 V, 7 Ah and 252 Wh. It locks on, lifts off for indoor charging, and can be charged in place. The supplied 42 V, 2.0 A UK charger is claimed to fill it in 2-3 hours.

Plan around the conditions, not the headline. The official maximum is up to 72 km or 45 miles, and only on power level 1, at an average pace and rider weight, on even terrain. Higher assistance, hills and stop-start streets will use that 252 Wh faster.

One gear, starts and hills

A single-speed chain with a KMC e-bike-specific chain keeps the cockpit simple on towpath spins and short city hops. MiRiDER says the larger front sprocket makes unassisted acceleration from rest slower, so the thumb boost matters at junctions. The manufacturer claims a maximum 25-degree climb based on an average rider. Without a hands-on test of this exact build, treat steep regular hills with the motor off - or riding above the 15.5 mph cut-off - as the place extra gears would help.

The manual asks for a dealer check after the first 100 miles or six weeks, weekly chain cleaning and lubrication, monthly bolt and wheel checks, and a look at the brakes and tyres before you ride.

Matching the right MiRiDER 16

This page is the standard single-speed bike: one-speed chain, Clarks CMD-24 mechanical discs, 7 Ah / 252 Wh battery and 17.3 kg. MiRiDER One is older naming that still appears in official copy and the manual, so match those details before you treat a listing as this bike.

Three-speed, belt-drive or GB3 offers are the separate MiRiDER 16 GB3, which has hydraulic brakes and weighs 19.4 kg. Hope Edition and Adventure Edition are named special builds of their own, not colours or trims of this one.
