Heather Fischer to Matrix Fitness
Matrix Fitness Pro Cycling was thrilled to announce the signing of American cyclist Heather Fischer for the upcoming season. Fischer’s attacking style and impressive performances had been on display throughout the European racing circuit that year, where she had been a key member of the formidable USA National Team.
Fischer’s season had begun with a remarkable performance at the Omloop van het Hageland, where her solo effort, although not resulting in the desired outcome, showcased her determination and skill. She had continued to employ her aggressive racing tactics, which ultimately paid off with a 5th place finish at the Acht van Westerveld, where she found herself in a breakaway alongside some of the peloton’s most notable riders.
The Colorado native had expressed her enthusiasm about joining the team, stating, “Matrix Fitness is a fun group of driven professionals seeking to improve themselves and the sport; I am thrilled to be on board. This is not only an opportunity to continue racing in the European peloton but an opportunity for growth, leadership, and teamwork with this young up and coming women’s UCI team.”
Prior to the announcement, Fischer had recently competed in the AVIVA Women’s Tour, marking her first experience racing in the United Kingdom. Throughout the race, she had featured in several long breakaway attempts, and it was during this event that her contract with Matrix Fitness was finalized. In the upcoming weeks, Fischer was set to race in Thuringen as part of the USA National Team before joining her new Matrix teammates at the prestigious La Course event.
Team manager Stefan Wyman had commented on the signing, saying, “It’s been a great start to the season for Heather, and we’re really happy to have her join the squad. La Course is certainly a huge event to start with a new team, but we know that over the coming seasons, Heather can develop into one of the leading riders in the peloton. Heather is just the type of rider we are looking to add to the team as we build for the future with a more international feel.”
As Matrix Fitness Pro Cycling continued to grow and establish itself as a force in the women’s peloton, the addition of Heather Fischer to the roster was seen as a significant step forward. Her attacking style, coupled with the team’s supportive environment and focus on development, created an exciting prospect for both Fischer and the team in the seasons to come.
